WELCOME TO ENNISKILLEN RUNNING CLUB

About Us

Enniskillen Running Club began in the Spring of 2009 when a few local runners got together and decided to start a running club in the town. Advertising this venture through the local paper, the Impartial Reporter, other runners in the town with a wide range of ability expressed an interest in setting up a club. Those who were interested met on Monday nights doing a few training sessions. As news spread about the fledgling club more people came along and eventually a proper constitution was drawn up, officers appointed and official affiliation with Athletics Northern Ireland secured.

Now, just over a year on from the clubs official beginning, we have around fifty members and about a dozen junior members. We have also secured the services of a qualified coach – Mr Tommy Farrell – who trains both the adults and the juniors. The adults meet for training on a Monday night at 6,00pm at the Forum Leisure Centre in the town. Sessions vary and are arranged according to the runners ability. Junior training takes place on Tuesday and Thursday nights, also at 6.00pm.

Since the formation of the club we have seen many of our members improve considerably and have had the great encouragement of having a number of our members taking podium places in both local races in Fermanagh and also in races organised by other running clubs and community groups throughout the Island. Several of our members have clocked personal best times during the past year and have attributed this to the training and help they are receiving at the club.

Others of our members who have just taken up running for the first time, or have started running again after several years of a lay off, have benefited greatly from the club’s program and are once again enjoying the numerous benefits of regular running.

We are an ambitious club and it is our vision to train up some of our junior members to the level where they will represent Ireland. We also hope to become a leading running club in the country, one that has members who are regularly challenging for podium places in the major races of the season.

The club is continually looking for new members, either well-seasoned runners or those just taking up the sport. You will be warmly welcomed at our sessions on Monday nights and if you enjoy your experience (which we know you will) you can join the club for a very reasonable annual fee.

If you have any questions or want further information please contact us using our contact page and we will get back to you.
